About The Federation of Malaysia Lim Associations

The Federation of Malaysian Lim Associations traces its roots back to the 14th century, when individuals with the surname Wu Lin shared ambitions typical of Chinese pioneers. Despite numerous Lin clan organizations across Malaysia, they struggled to unite due to various challenges.

In 1979, members from Batu Pahat, Johor, recognized the need for a unified Malaysian Lim clan federation to leverage their collective strength for the benefit of their clan and the wider Chinese community. With encouragement from local leaders, they embarked on a journey to gather support.

Visiting various Lim clan associations, they received positive responses, culminating in a decisive meeting in September 1979. Representatives from five Johor clan associations agreed to form a preparatory committee for a national federation.

Following extensive discussions and visits to ancestral halls nationwide, the interim committee officially established the [Johor Lim Clan Association Preparatory Committee for the All-Malaysian Federation]. After further deliberation, the federation was registered on November 6, 1981.

This landmark event signified the importance of unity among Lim clan members to thrive alongside fellow citizens. Over the years, the Federation of Malaysian Lim Associations has flourished, fostering collaboration among affiliated associations across the country. Today, it boasts 73 member associations.

Note: In 1996, the association's Chinese name was changed to the Lim Clan Federation of Malaysia.
