As an intern in the procurement department at Opcom Cables Sdn Bhd, my daily routine involves sitting at my desk to handle purchase orders and delivery orders from different departments. I am responsible for following up on delivery schedules from suppliers to ensure timely delivery of goods. Additionally, I am in charge of contacting suppliers for quotations, tax invoices, and delivery orders. Through this experience, I have gained knowledge in procurement, supply chain management, purchase orders, warehouse management, vendor communication, and stock take. The management culture is satisfactory, but there is excessive bureaucracy. The workplace culture is also decent, but there is a need for better communication between management and employees. The most challenging aspect of the job is dealing with small enterprise suppliers who often have issues with documentation. However, the most enjoyable part is networking with various suppliers and building connections for future collaborations.
