Current Employee, years in the role"Not bad for a beginner position"
Working as a Legal Associate with just one other legal colleague can be quite challenging, especially when it is your first job. However, after over 2 years in this role, I have learned a lot and quickly adapted to the demands of the job. My main responsibilities involve drafting various agreements, ranging from Non-disclosure Agreements to more complex ones like Technology Licensing Agreements or Facilitation Agreements to help with the disbursement of conditional grants from the Ministry. I also provide legal advice directly to the CEO and other departments as needed. The work environment is generally relaxed, with everyone being friendly, although there have been some communication issues between the operational and legal teams. Through negotiation, we have been able to resolve disagreements and find the best way to move forward without conflict. One of the most enjoyable aspects of the job is the opportunity to engage with the Ministry and learn from our international counterparts. However, as a science-based agency, most of these engagements are handled by technical staff, with legal matters typically being addressed through email communication. Overall, this has been a great place to start my career, offering valuable experience, supportive colleagues, and opportunities for professional growth.
