Mass communications being so far and wide and industry, there are vast differences in each discipline of branding, marketing, public relations, promotions, creative, media, research, film and video production, and sound production. Professionals in the communications business are so wary of their own unique positioning like the brands they are helping to build. The key is in recognizing one's strengths to determine one's core business or specialization. Magicmakers Sdn Bhd was borne of the IT revolution era in the early 90s' where one-man-bands were aplenty. The core difference between Magicmakers and its competitors was the "big agency thinking" capability executed guerilla-style against medium sized ad agencies. Soon the Company made paradigm shifts in the ad business as it began winning creative awards, became fully integrated with the mainstream media, and joined the elite 4As (Association of Accredited Advertising Agencies Malaysia). To this day, Magicmakers continue to draw inspiration from one of is major clients, Apple Computers. The brand personalities of of both companies being uncannily similar, the attitude of both can also be summarily described as "unconventionally non-conformist".

 

History

In late 1988, Magicmakers was formed as a creative consultancy to multinational ad agencies Lintas (Lowe & Partners) and J. Walter Thompson (JWT). Pitching against an international ad agency in 1993, the Company won the LUX Appliances business as its first direct client. Over the years, Magicmakers have helped to build a portfolio of local and international brands. They include Apple Computers, Kotra Pharma (Booster Energy Drink), Slumberland (Vono mattress), Eastin Hotel, Dorset Regency Hotel, Parkson Grand, "Sihat Sepanjang Hayat campaigns for Ministry of Health Malaysia, and Kotex for Kimberly-Clark. Major clients currently are Slumberland and Vono mattresses, Pavilion Kuala Lumpur shopping mall, and Sarawak Convention Bureau which Magicmakers works closely with on all branding and promotional campaigns globally.
