About Kumon Method Of Learning

Our organisation is a 42 year education business specialising in developing children's ability to do self-study. The training is done through either our mathematics programme or our language programme, or both. Using our own specially designed worksheets, we train students to study from pre-schooler levels to upper secondary levels. Students are guided to think for themselves instead of being given the answers. They repeatedly do the same exercises until they gain an insight in how to solve the problems. In the process, they also understand the importance of perseverence.

 

Established in July 1954 in Osaka, Japan by a secondary math teacher by the name of Toru Kumon. He created a set of self-learning worksheets for his eldest son, who was then struggling with maths at the primary two. The method and the materials were so effective that his son was able to do secondary school level math before graduating from the primary school. This prompted the neighbours to urge him to start a business for the benefits of the neighbourhood.
