The company was carrying JAKEL TRADING as a trademark in the textile industry to win over their customers. Mohamed Jakel later had expanded the business to Segamat, where the empire labeled as a dominant player in the industry.\n\nIn 1992, JAKEL TRADING further expanded its operations by venturing as a textile semi-wholesaler and supplier for the government agencies and private sectors. JAKEL TRADING continued to be a highly developed and respected textile company between 1992 and 1997.\n\nIt was difficult for JAKEL TRADING to obtain supplies due to an economic downturn at the end of 1997 until 1998. Fortunately, the crisis had been handled successfully by Datuk Hj Mohamed Faroz Bin Mohamed Jakel, who is now the Managing Director of JAKEL Group of Companies, the eldest son of Mohamed Jakel.\n\nDue to a stock shortage in the market, JAKEL TRADING took a brave step heading directly to the manufacturers by importing stocks from overseas and sell them to the wholesalers in Malaysia. In the beginning, the Korean exporters were reluctant to work with JAKEL TRADING. Moreover, most of the importers could not extend their businesses as the bank had dismissed their facilities. JAKEL was established by Mohamed Jakel Bin Ahmad on January 24, 1983, in Muar, Johor. Initially, JAKEL TRADING began as a textile wholesaler serving small retailers in Muar, now recognized as The Royal Town of Muar.

In 1985, JAKEL opened a branch in Segamat, Johor. A few years later, the company increased its capital investment by RM500,000. Over the years, JAKEL has expanded its retail operations and textile supply to both government and private sectors, with the JAKEL Group's net worth now at RM5 billion.

Through a blend of business savvy and strong management, JAKEL successfully navigated the economic crisis of 1997 and grew to be Malaysia’s leading textile company. JAKEL has achieved international success and recognition through various subsidiaries and partnerships, securing the trust and standards needed to further its business endeavors. Currently, JAKEL employs approximately 5,000 staff involved in research and development, sales, marketing, and support services.

JAKEL, sebuah syarikat yang ditubuhkan oleh Mohamed Jakel Bin Ahmad pada 24 Januari 1983 di Muar, Johor, memulakan perniagaan sebagai pembekal borong tekstil kepada peniaga-peniaga kecil di sekitar Muar, yang kini dikenali sebagai Bandar Diraja Muar.

Pada tahun 1985, JAKEL telah membuka cawangan di Segamat, Johor. Beberapa tahun kemudian, syarikat ini telah meningkatkan modal pelaburannya sebanyak RM500,000.
