Gribbles Pathology Reviews

Scientist

Ex-Employee, years in the role

"I enjoy working as a medical laboratory technician and phlebotomist."

I was in a fast-paced work environment where I learned to independently solve work-related problems efficiently and satisfy clients. I have experience in managing sample rejections and controlling workflow among staff. The workplace culture was cooperative, but the hardest part was being bullied by a senior. However, I still enjoyed my job.

"Cozy work environment"

During my internship, I work from Monday to Friday, with Saturday and Sunday being my days off. We are not permitted to come in on the weekends as this laboratory is private and the lab manager wants to prevent accidents. I have learned how to operate the machines and interpret cytology slides. The management is effective and the workplace is diverse, with Malay, Chinese, and Indian employees. The most challenging aspect is distinguishing between normal and cancerous cells on the cytology slides, as they appear very similar under the microscope. The most enjoyable part of the internship is working in the histopathology lab, where I can practice staining, tissue blocking, and embedding techniques.

"Offer an engaging and enriching experience with skilled instructors."

On a typical workday, I listen to the instructor explain the equipment and tests used in my role as a medical laboratory assistant. I am constantly learning new things, including how to handle challenges faced by patients. The management is excellent, allowing me to work with patient specimens under the supervision of experienced colleagues who provide guidance when needed. The most difficult part for me is preparing patients for the doctor, as I must ensure all tests are conducted accurately. However, I feel a sense of satisfaction when I am able to successfully complete tasks without any errors.

"Exciting work environment"

I have gained knowledge in various areas, including performing laboratory tests manually. One of the most enjoyable experiences is participating in blood donation events, where I get to interact with a diverse group of people and conduct blood grouping tests on their samples.
