BIOTEC was born in Belgium in 1984 with the aim of developing conceptual, technological and methodological tools appropriate to the Tropic for decontaminating wastewater (agricultural, agro-industrial and urban) and solid organic waste, and its use for industrial, energy and agricultural sectors to:
Prevent any discharge to river or landfill
Return to the soil organic matter and nutrients exported by crops
Generate renewable energy (biogas)
Generate added value and employment
Increase the sustainability of the human activity.
To achieve this, BIOTEC combines several technologies, includingr:
Biodigestors
Composting
Organic Fertilizing (liquid and solid)
Today, BIOTEC is also engaged in the generation of electricity from biogas and energy crops (grasses and cane).
BIOTEC is at the same time an engineering (design, construction supervision and assembly, commissioning), construction (turnkey) and operation’s company.
BIOTEC either operates systems during its first three years, or is responsible for close monitoring of the operation. Consequently BIOTEC designs and builds with an operator’s mind.
