Prophet Muhammad's Birthday, also known as Maulidur Rasul, is a significant religious and cultural event celebrated in Malaysia. This special day commemorates the birth of the Prophet Muhammad, the founder of Islam. One unique aspect of this celebration is that the date varies each year because it follows the Islamic lunar calendar.

Is Prophet Muhammad's Birthday a Public Holiday in Malaysia?

Prophet Muhammad's Birthday is celebrated as a national public holiday in Malaysia. This year, it takes place on September 16, 2024. This means that it's a day when most businesses, schools, and government offices are closed.

Why Maulidur Rasul is a Public Holiday

The reason it's a public holiday in Malaysia is because a significant number of people in Malaysia are Muslims, and Prophet Muhammad is an important figure in Islam. To honor his birthday, the government has made it a day off for everyone. As a public holiday, it holds great importance for Malaysians, both as a religious observance and as a day of national significance.
