Location: Puchong, Selangor/ design office @ Bukit Jalil
Employment Type: Full-time (On-site / Site Visits)
About KAIU Artisan Creative
Established in 2017, KAIU Artisan Creative is a Malaysian leader in solid timber product design, manufacturing, and interior solutions. We blend traditional craftsmanship with modern innovation to create high-quality commercial, residential, and industrial spaces.
Role Overview
Are you energetic, eager to learn, and ready to get hands-on experience in the interior design and renovation industry? We are looking for a Design & Site Assistant to work directly alongside the Business Owner/Director.
This is a versatile, dynamic role that combines site coordination, supplier sourcing, administrative tasks, and basic design work. Rather than sitting behind a desk all day, you will be on the move—learning how projects are built from the ground up, managing real-world site arrangements, and sitting in on client meetings.
Key Responsibilities
- Site Coordination & Delegation: Visit active job sites to monitor progress, check if installations match plans, and ensure contractors keep things on schedule.
- Sourcing & Quotations: Contact suppliers, fabricators, and sub-contractors to request, compile, and compare quotations for materials and labor.
- Director Support & Client Meetings: Accompany the Director to client meetings, site walk-throughs, and vendor discussions to take notes, follow up on action items, and manage arrangements.
- Project Documentation: Assist with site paperwork, purchase orders, material tracking, and project schedules to keep operations organized.
- Design Support: Assist with reading construction drawings, preparing sample boards, making minor plan adjustments, or selecting finishes when needed.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Education: Diploma or Degree in Interior Design, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field (Fresh graduates are strongly encouraged to apply!).
- Transport: Must possess a valid driver’s license (Class D) and own transport to travel to job sites, suppliers, and client locations independently.
- Attitude: Proactive, fast learner, high initiative, and a strong sense of responsibility.
- Skills: Basic knowledge of software like AutoCAD, SketchUp, or MS Office/Excel is an added advantage.
- Communication: Good interpersonal skills to coordinate smoothly with contractors, suppliers, and clients.
What We Offer
- Direct mentorship from the business founder to fast-track your career growth and industry knowledge.
- Hands-on exposure to custom timber craftsmanship, project management, and business operations.
- Travel/mileage allowance for site visits.
