Company Description
The Fuel Cell Institute at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) is Malaysia’s first dedicated research institute for fuel cell and hydrogen energy. Established in 2006 and officially operational since 2007, it builds on UKM’s longstanding strengths in renewable energy, including solar, hydrogen, and fuel cell technologies. The institute’s origins trace back to pioneering work in the mid-1990s, when UKM researchers developed Malaysia’s first proton exchange membrane fuel cell. Guided by experienced academic leadership, the institute is committed to advancing sustainable energy research. It provides a collaborative environment for researchers and graduate candidates to contribute to cutting-edge projects in fuel cell and hydrogen energy.
Role Description
The PhD Candidate (Graduate Research Assistant) will conduct experimental and computational research related to fuel cell, hydrogen energy, or associated sustainable energy systems. Daily tasks include designing and executing laboratory experiments, collecting and analyzing data, reviewing scientific literature, and contributing to publications and conference presentations. The candidate will collaborate with supervisors and team members on project planning, documentation, and reporting, and may assist with maintaining research equipment and participating in group meetings and seminars. This is a contract role based on research project term. The position is on-site and located in Bandar Baru Bangi at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia.
Requirement & Qualification
Master’s Degree with Honours from any institution of higher learning recognised by the Senate, with experience in one or more of the following:
