Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced, firm and hands-on HR Lead to manage the full spectrum of Human Resources functions, with strong experience in employee discipline, misconduct investigations and industrial relations.
The successful candidate will report directly to the Group Human Resource Manager, lead daily HR operations, supervise the HR team, ensure compliance with Malaysian employment laws and support management on workforce and employee-related matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Report directly to and support the Group Human Resource Manager in implementing Group HR strategies, policies and initiatives.
- Lead and oversee the daily operations of the HR Department.
- Manage the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, confirmation, transfer, promotion, resignation, retrenchment and termination.
- Develop, implement and consistently enforce company policies, rules and disciplinary procedures.
- Handle employee misconduct and disciplinary cases from the initial complaint through final resolution.
- Conduct preliminary investigations, fact-finding interviews and evidence reviews.
- Prepare warning letters, show-cause letters, suspension notices, domestic inquiry documents and termination letters.
- Organise and coordinate domestic inquiries in accordance with the principles of natural justice and applicable employment laws.
- Advise management and department heads on poor performance, absenteeism, insubordination, misconduct and other disciplinary matters.
- Maintain proper and confidential documentation for all disciplinary cases.
- Handle employee grievances, workplace conflicts and industrial relations matters professionally.
- Represent or support the Company in matters involving JTK, JPP, Industrial Court proceedings and other relevant authorities.
- Plan and coordinate recruitment for corporate, project and site-based positions.
- Liaise with government authorities, including JTK, JPP, KWSP, PERKESO, EIS, LHDN, Immigration and other relevant agencies.
- Coordinate foreign-worker matters, including applications, renewals, permits, immigration documentation, accommodation and regulatory compliance.
- Monitor attendance, absenteeism, leave, overtime, payroll inputs and employee movements.
- Review and maintain HR policies, procedures, employee records, organisational charts and job descriptions.
- Coordinate performance appraisals, employee confirmation, salary reviews and development activities.
- Prepare HR, disciplinary, absenteeism, turnover and manpower reports for management.
- Support internal and external audits, including ISO-related HR documentation and compliance.
- Supervise, guide and develop HR team members across the organisation.
- Perform other HR and administrative duties assigned by the Group Human Resource Manager or management.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Management or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant HR experience, including experience leading or supervising an HR team.
- Strong practical experience in employee discipline, misconduct investigations, domestic inquiries and termination procedures.
- Sound working knowledge of the Employment Act 1955, Industrial Relations Act 1967 and other applicable Malaysian employment laws.
- Experience managing grievances, poor performance, absenteeism and workplace conflicts.
- Experience liaising with JTK, JPP, Immigration and other government authorities.
- Experience managing foreign workers and immigration matters is preferred.
- Experience in the engineering, construction, oil and gas, manufacturing or project-based sectors will be an advantage.
- Firm, fair and consistent when managing employee disciplinary matters.
- Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
- Able to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee matters professionally.
- Able to work independently, manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and HR or payroll systems.
- Good command of written and spoken English and Bahasa Malaysia.
- Ability to communicate in Tamil will be an added advantage.
