岗位职责

A leading organisation in Petaling Jaya is seeking a highly skilled Tax Manager to oversee all direct and indirect tax matters for their Malaysian entities. This role offers you the opportunity to work within a supportive environment where your expertise will be valued, and your professional growth encouraged through ongoing training and development. You will play a pivotal part in ensuring compliance with Malaysian tax regulations, optimising tax efficiency, and advising on complex business structures. The company is committed to fostering an inclusive workplace, making this an ideal position for those who value both professional challenge and personal growth.

What you'll do:

  • Oversee all aspects of direct and indirect taxation for Malaysian entities, including Corporate Income Tax, SST, Withholding Tax, Transfer Pricing documentation, and e-Invoicing processes.
  • Lead audits, investigations, and queries from local authorities (LHDN), providing clear guidance and responses while ensuring compliance.
  • Collaborate with Finance teams and business units to integrate tax considerations into contracts, investments, project structures, and commercial decisions.

What you'll do:

As a Tax Manager based in Petaling Jaya, you will be entrusted with overseeing all direct and indirect taxation matters for the organisation's Malaysian entities. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve managing compliance processes for Corporate Income Tax, SST, Withholding Tax, Transfer Pricing documentation, e-Invoicing procedures, as well as acting as the main point of contact for external consultants. You will lead efforts in structuring intercompany transactions to ensure Transfer Pricing compliance while spearheading audits or investigations initiated by local authorities. Your analytical skills will be crucial in performing effective tax rate reconciliations to pinpoint areas of variance such as non-deductible expenses or deferred taxes. By identifying legitimate planning opportunities-including incentives or exemptions-you will help optimise the group's cash position. Working closely with Finance teams and business units ensures that tax considerations are embedded early in contracts or investment decisions. Regular reporting on optimisation initiatives will keep leadership informed of progress towards greater efficiency.

  • Manage all aspects of direct and indirect tax for Malaysian entities, including Corporate Income Tax, SST, Withholding Tax, Transfer Pricing, and e-Invoicing, ensuring full compliance with local regulations.
  • Ensure timely and accurate tax filings, submissions, and payments by maintaining robust controls, documentation, and audit trails across subsidiaries.
  • Act as the primary contact for tax consultants regarding Transfer Pricing documentation, benchmarking exercises, statutory filings, and technical opinions.
  • Support the structuring of intercompany transactions involving Malaysian entities to ensure adherence to Transfer Pricing requirements.
  • Lead tax audits, investigations, and queries from Malaysian tax authorities (LHDN), providing clear guidance and responses when required.
  • Drive tax optimisation initiatives aimed at reducing avoidable tax leakage and aligning the effective tax rate as closely as possible with statutory rates without compromising compliance.
  • Conduct regular analysis and reconciliation of the effective tax rate to identify variances caused by non-deductible expenses, incentives, capital allowances, deferred taxes, or withholding tax leakage.
  • Identify and implement legitimate tax planning opportunities that improve overall group efficiency and cash tax positions through incentives and exemptions.
  • Collaborate with Finance and Business Units to integrate tax considerations into contracts, investments, project structures, and commercial decisions from the outset.
  • Track and report progress on tax optimisation initiatives, savings achieved, effective tax rate impact, and communicate these results to Finance leadership.

What you bring:

To excel as a Tax Manager in Petaling Jaya you should bring substantial experience gained from both consulting environments-preferably within top-tier firms-and commercial settings inside large corporate groups. Your academic background should include relevant degrees complemented by professional qualifications such as ACCA or CPA. Practical exposure to Malaysian corporate taxation processes like SST administration or Transfer Pricing documentation is critical. Demonstrated success in optimising group-wide taxation strategies while maintaining compliance reflects your ability to add tangible value. Analytical prowess allows you to reconcile effective rates accurately while identifying underlying causes for variances. Managing multiple stakeholders-including consultants-requires strong interpersonal skills combined with sound commercial judgement. Your communication abilities will be key when advising internal teams about contractual implications or responding proactively to regulatory changes.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation or a related field is essential for this role.
  • Professional qualification such as ACCA, CPA, CTA or equivalent is preferred to demonstrate advanced expertise.
  • At least 10 years of Malaysia-focused tax experience is required; ideally including 5 years in consulting or advisory roles within established firms such as Big 4 or similar organisations.
  • In-house commercial experience within large corporate groups adds valuable perspective on practical application of tax principles.
  • Hands-on exposure to Malaysian corporate taxation processes including SST, Withholding Tax management, Transfer Pricing documentation preparation, audit handling and LHDN engagements is vital.
  • Proven track record in implementing sustainable tax optimisation strategies and managing effective tax rate adjustments is highly desirable.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Malaysian tax legislation coupled with practical understanding of current practices ensures accuracy in compliance.
  • Strong analytical abilities are needed for effective reconciliation of ETRs as well as forecasting future impacts from various drivers.
  • Ability to manage multiple consultants simultaneously while meeting deadlines demonstrates good commercial judgement alongside a business-partnering mindset.
  • Excellent communication skills paired with stakeholder management experience enable you to advise Finance teams effectively on contract pricing or structural changes.
