Full Time Backend Developer to join our team with fully remote role to design, develop, and maintain the scalable backend services and APIs that power our mobile platform, working primarily with a modern Django and Django REST Framework (DRF) codebase.

We are an AI-native engineering team that uses tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, and Copilot as part of our everyday development workflow. We value developers who can effectively leverage AI tools to ship quality code, review AI-generated output, and improve engineering workflows. We hire based on capability rather than years of experience, offering real ownership from day one.

You'll work closely with the founder and product, mobile, and front-end teams to deliver features, resolve issues, write automated tests, participate in code reviews, and contribute to architectural decisions as the platform scales.

Requirements

• AI-assisted development: Demonstrable experience leveraging Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, or similar tools to build and ship real projects.
• Django + DRF: Experience building production backend services using recent versions of Django and Django REST Framework.
• PostgreSQL: Hands-on experience with schema design, indexing, and query optimisation.
• REST API design: Ability to develop well-structured RESTful APIs and collaborate on API contracts.
• Cloud platforms: Production experience with GCP (preferred), AWS, or Azure, including deployment, secret management, and monitoring.
• Engineering fundamentals: Solid understanding of security, performance, clean code, and critically reviewing AI-generated code.
• Communication: Strong written communication skills and the ability to work independently in a cross-regional team.
• Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

Nice to Have

• Experience in healthcare, digital health, or regulated environments, with familiarity with PDPO, PDPA, or GDPR.
• Experience integrating third-party APIs for video, payments, clinical data standards, or logistics.
• Experience integrating LLM APIs (Claude or OpenAI) into backend services.
• Experience building mobile-first products.

Pay: RM5,000.00 - RM12,000.00 per month
