Diploma / Bachelor Degree in Radiotherapy or equivalent

A self starter with initiative and resourcefulness and an ability to work independently.

Responsible for assisting in setting the highest standard of clinical care and ensuring that these standards are maintained.

Ensures sufficient supplies (surgical, medical, and drugs) are maintained at adequate levels in the Department and are always available to meet patients’ needs.

Interacts well with other departments and practices teamwork in the best interests of the patients.

Ensures the working area is always clean and tidy.

Practices courtesy and diplomacy with staff and patients at all times.

Attends appropriate study programmes, in-service training, and mandatory updates, e.g., Code of Conduct, Emergency Response Training, Basic Life Support, etc.

Organises CT simulation appointments and works together with Radiology staff to ensure that the CT simulation procedure is carried out based on the Consultant’s request.

Organises the daily routine Radiotherapy treatment schedule, Consultant’s reviews, and other Radiotherapy patient-related schedules accordingly.

Treats patients undergoing Radiotherapy in accordance with the approved treatment plan and prescribed dose by the Consultant, which involves operating radiation equipment for patient setup and radiation dose delivery.

Ensures the Consultant’s requests are carried out and seeks clarification when in doubt.

Explains to patients the procedures involved in the treatment and conveys any instructions from the Consultant regarding the treatment.

Switches on and warms up the radiation equipment every morning in accordance with the manufacturer’s warm-up procedure.

Executes daily quality assurance procedures as directed by the Medical Physicist.

Assists the Medical Physicist in calibration and quality assurance checks on radiation equipment when required.

Reports immediately any suspected equipment malfunction to the Consultant, Medical Physicist, and Biomedical Engineer.

Assists the Consultant in CT simulation planning and radiotherapy treatment delivery for new patients or upon request.

Moulds thermoplastic masks on patients and uses appropriate immobilization or positioning devices when necessary to ensure the desired treatment outcome is achieved.

Fulfils statutory requirements governing the safe use of radiation in relation to the radiation safety of patients, staff, and members of the public by observing all local rules and professional standards.

Ensures the legibility and accuracy of patients’ treatment records, charts, and other documentation.

Adopts a caring approach towards patients and relatives and communicates effectively.

Promotes and maintains a safe and conducive environment for patients.

Ensures patient safety at all times.

Is always ready to assist non-ambulatory patients.

Ensures the radiation equipment is switched off at the end of the day.

Performs other appropriate tasks and duties within the employee’s knowledge, skills, and abilities as assigned by Management.
