Role Description

The BI Consultant is responsible for the design, development, and implementation of Business Intelligence and analytics solutions within the Infor M3 department of SL Information Solutions Sdn Bhd, extending the analytical capabilities of the Infor M3 ERP platform for enterprise clients. Reporting to the Technical Manager, this role designs and models data warehouse systems, develops BI reporting and analysis applications, conducts client BI training, identifies operational improvement opportunities, and provides functional and technical guidance to business teams.

Key Responsibilities

A. Project Management & BI Development

• Provide expertise in the design, development, and implementation of Business Intelligence (BI) and analytics systems.
• Design and model data warehouse systems aligned with client requirements.
• Develop BI reporting and analysis applications to improve client business processes.
• Compare operational progress against planned project objectives and suggest corrective actions for variances.
• Review project information to identify risks and opportunities; present findings to key leaders.
• Develop best practices to achieve project objectives and deliverables.
• Identify development needs to streamline and improve operations for efficiency and profitability.
• Create and maintain comprehensive documentation including design specifications, requirements, and user manuals.

B. Training & Support

• Provide functional and technical guidance to business teams when needed.
• Conduct business meetings with customers to determine project requirements and milestones.
• Conduct BI training sessions for customers.
• Assist the helpdesk support team in providing support to clients to ensure quality and professionalism.

C. General

• Develop knowledge on business intelligence skills and processes.
• Develop positive working relationships with customers and other department staff.
• Perform any other duties as directed by superior or management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Economics, Finance, or equivalent.
• At least 3 years of working experience in a BI tool environment, with preference for Microsoft Power BI.
• Experience in Infor M3 or ERP BI environments is an added advantage.
• Proficiency in BI tools, with preference for Microsoft Power BI; knowledge of Lawson Business Intelligence or IBM Cognos is an advantage.
• Experience in data warehouse design and modelling.
• Proficiency in SQL and database querying for data extraction and validation.
• Skills in statistics, data analysis, and reporting.
• Knowledge of business policies, regulations, and budgeting procedures.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, listening, and presentation skills.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, especially in statistics and reporting.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Technologically proficient with a keen interest in data-driven insights.
• Client-centric and professional in all stakeholder interactions.
