We are looking for a Safety Officer to support our factory and project operations and help maintain a safe and compliant working environment. This role is suitable for a safety professional who enjoys being hands-on and working closely with production teams, project personnel, workers, subcontractors and clients.
The Safety Officer will be responsible for monitoring workplace safety, ensuring compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and client HSE requirements, and supporting the implementation of effective safety practices across factory and project activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor daily factory and project activities to ensure compliance with DOSH requirements, client HSE requirements and company safety procedures.
- Conduct regular workplace and site safety inspections to identify unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, hazards and potential risks.
- Follow up on identified safety observations, non-compliance and corrective actions to ensure timely closure.
- Conduct and participate in toolbox meetings, safety briefings and pre-task meetings to ensure workers understand the required safety precautions.
- Monitor compliance with PPE requirements, work permits, HIRARC/HIRAC and safe work practices.
- Monitor high-risk activities including lifting operations, working at height, confined space, hot work, hydrotesting and machinery operations.
- Attend to client HSE requirements, inspections, observations and requests and ensure appropriate follow-up.
- Assist project and production teams in implementing safety controls and maintaining a safe working environment.
- Support incident and accident investigations, including identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
- Assist in internal and client HSE audits, inspections and site visits.
- Prepare and maintain daily safety inspection records, HSE reports, observations, incident reports and other required SHE documentation.
- Ensure relevant safety documentation and records are properly maintained and updated.
- Monitor compliance with applicable requirements from DOSH, DOE, BOMBA and other relevant regulatory authorities, where applicable.
- Work closely with Production, Project, Operations and Engineering teams to ensure safety requirements are consistently implemented.
- Promote safety awareness and support continuous improvement initiatives across the workplace.
- Perform other HSE-related duties and responsibilities assigned by management.
Requirements
- Minimum Diploma in Occupational Safety & Health, Safety Management or a related field, or relevant NIOSH safety qualification.
- Safety and Health Officer (SHO) / relevant safety certification will be an added advantage.
- 2–3 years of relevant HSE/Safety experience, preferably in Oil & Gas, fabrication, construction, manufacturing or engineering industries.
- Good knowledge of DOSH requirements, HIRARC/HIRAC and workplace safety practices.
- Experience in monitoring high-risk activities and conducting workplace safety inspections.
- Good communication and report-writing skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
- Able to communicate effectively with workers, supervisors, subcontractors, project teams and clients.
- Responsible, proactive and comfortable working in a hands-on factory and project environment.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willing to work on weekends or outside normal working hours when required by project or client requirements.

Pay: RM3,000.00 - RM6,000.00 per month
