About us
The Warung Theater at Cathay is a garden-style café and event venue in a restored old cinema in Ipoh. It has a stage hall that seats up to 300 guests, buffet and carving-station setups, and outside catering. We host government functions, school events, corporate family days, product launches, anniversaries and celebrations.

About the role
We need a hunter. This is not a desk job. You will go out, meet decision-makers, and bring events to Cathay. Then you will make sure every event runs smoothly and every client wants to come back.

What you will do

• Find and win event bookings from government departments, schools, corporates and associations
• Visit clients, make calls, hold walkthroughs and close deals
• Prepare quotations, packages and follow-ups until payment is collected
• Plan and manage each event: layout, menu, AV, timeline and on-the-day coordination
• Meet and mingle with guests on event day, and build long-term relationships
• Lead and guide our event sales team
• Plan a yearly event calendar and hit monthly sales targets
• Report weekly on your pipeline and sales

What we are looking for

• At least 3 years in event sales, banquet sales, hotel sales or B2B sales
• An existing network of corporate or government contacts is a strong advantage
• Proactive, confident and outgoing, and not shy about cold calls or walk-ins
• Calm and professional with senior clients and VIPs
• Good communication in Bahasa Malaysia and English (Mandarin is a plus)
• Own transport and a valid driving licence
• Able to work some weekends and evenings during events
