About the role

We are looking for a Specialist Oracle Linux Operations to join our team in an agile environment. You will operate and support Oracle Linux servers hosting Oracle databases across Google Compute Engine (GCE) and our on-premise platform.

In this role, you will act as a second-level escalation point for complex Linux incidents, support secure and stable day-to-day operations, and work closely with DBA, cloud, application and security teams. You will contribute to patching, hardening, automation and continuous operational improvement, while participating in a 24/7 on-call rotation.

Your key responsibilities

• Operate, monitor, troubleshoot and resolve complex incidents affecting Oracle Linux servers hosting Oracle databases, including network and storage-related issues.
• Perform root-cause analysis and create clear incident, problem and change documentation.
• Plan and execute Linux OS patching, security updates and hardening activities, including reboot coordination and rollback planning with DBA teams.
• Manage and resolve identity, authentication and access issues involving LDAP, Kerberos, PAM, MFA, SSH keys and sudo rules.
• Operate and troubleshoot Ansible Automation Platform workflows for activities such as patching, ASM disk expansion and VM updates.
• Develop, maintain and improve Ansible playbooks as well as Bash and Python scripts for operational automation, reporting and monitoring.
• Support the OS-side installation and configuration of Oracle database software and associated prerequisites, including HugePages, kernel parameters, limits and ASM disks.
• Use Google Cloud Console and OLVM to manage virtual machines, disks, snapshots and backups, and coordinate support tickets with Google when required.
• Address security vulnerabilities, maintain accurate system inventories and contribute reviewed changes through Git.
• Coach junior specialists, share knowledge within the team and ensure structured handovers during on-call operations.

What you bring

• At least 3–5 years of professional experience in Linux administration and support, ideally with Oracle Linux environments hosting Oracle databases.
• Hands-on experience in operating production Linux systems, including patching, hardening, kernel updates, vulnerability remediation and reboot coordination.
• Strong troubleshooting skills across Linux, network and storage components, including LVM, multipath, udev, NFS, DNS and chrony.
• Expert knowledge of Unix identity and access management, including LDAP, Kerberos, PAM, MFA, SSH keys and sudo.
• Strong scripting capabilities in Bash and Python, including regex-based data handling and operational reporting.
• Experience with Ansible playbook deployment and working knowledge of Ansible Automation Platform, including job templates, workflows, credentials and log analysis.
• Understanding of Oracle database requirements from an operating-system perspective, including ASM disks, HugePages, limits, listener configuration and kernel parameters.
• Familiarity with ServiceNow, Jira, ITIL processes, Git and CI/CD concepts.
• Good knowledge of virtualization technologies, ideally KVM/OLVM, and an interest in cloud technologies such as Google GCE and GCP.
• Excellent English communication skills, a structured working style, strong service orientation and the ability to remain calm under on-call pressure.
