This position will be attached to Vanda Creations Pte. Ltd. to gain practical, supervised experience in retail shop operations, sales and customer service. The attachment will provide structured on-the-job training to develop the trainee’s knowledge and skills in handling day-to-day retail activities.
Specific Responsibilities
1. Attend to customers’ enquiries and provide accurate information on products, pricing and availability.
2. Identify customers’ needs and recommend suitable products based on their requirements.
4. Assist customers throughout the sales process, from product selection to purchase.
5. Practise appropriate upselling and cross-selling techniques.
6. Assist with preparing customer orders and ensuring order details are accurate.
7. Learn and maintain knowledge of product features, specifications, benefits, pricing and availability.
8. Keep updated on new products, promotions and changes in product offerings.
9. Arrange and replenish merchandise according to store requirements.
10. Maintain attractive, orderly and properly labelled product displays.
11. Check that promotional materials and price tags are accurate and properly displayed.
12. Maintain the cleanliness and general presentation of the retail area.
13. Assist in receiving and checking incoming goods against delivery documents.
14. Monitor stock levels and assist with timely replenishment of merchandise.
15. Assist with recording daily sales, product movements and stock transactions.
16. Maintain accurate documentation relating to customer orders, deliveries and inventory.
17. Assist the trainer in checking sales and stock records for discrepancies.
18. Assist with routine opening and closing procedures.
Technical Skills and Competencies
1. Communicate professionally with customers, understand their enquiries and provide accurate product information.
2. Identify customer requirements through appropriate questioning and recommend suitable products.
3. Apply basic sales techniques, including product recommendation, upselling and cross-selling, to support sales objectives.
4. Demonstrate knowledge of product features, specifications, benefits, pricing and availability, and keep updated on new products and promotions.
5. Accurately process customer orders and verify product, quantity, pricing and customer details before submission.
6. Arrange, replenish and maintain merchandise displays in an organised and appealing manner according to store requirements.
7. Maintain accurate price tags, promotional materials and product information in accordance with current promotions.
8. Assist with receiving, checking, counting, replenishing and monitoring merchandise to maintain appropriate stock levels.
9. Check incoming goods against delivery documents and identify discrepancies such as shortages, incorrect items or damaged goods.
10. Maintain accurate records of daily sales, product movements, stock transactions, customer orders and deliveries.
11. Compare physical stock and records, identify discrepancies and report findings to the trainer or supervisor.
12. Perform routine opening and closing procedures and follow established store operating procedures.
13. Maintain a clean, organised and safe retail environment and comply with relevant workplace and store safety procedures
