In major cities across Malaysia, thousands of young people- students, interns, fresh graduates, and early-career professionals- struggle to find housing that is safe, affordable, and well-connected.

Rents in urban areas are rising. Options near universities and workplaces are limited. For many, the housing search means making tough compromises: long commutes, unsafe conditions, overcrowding, or unstable short-term arrangements. At the same time, urban areas are filled with vacant or underutilized properties, sitting idle while the demand for affordable housing continues to climb. This disconnect affects more than just housing. It’s a structural barrier that impacts:

• Access to education and jobs
• Mental and emotional well-being
• Sense of stability at a critical stage of life

At the same time, property owners struggle to rent out their investment units due to a variety of reasons. These spaces go unused; and when left vacant, properties can fall into disrepair or become burdens for their owners.
