About the Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and responsible Music Teacher Intern who enjoys working with children and helping students develop confidence and enjoyment through music.

Under the guidance of our experienced teachers, you will observe lessons, assist with teaching and gradually conduct individual or small-group lessons according to your readiness. You will also support student activities and help promote the studio’s programmes through social media.

This internship is suitable for someone considering a career in music education and looking for practical teaching experience in a supportive studio environment.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching and Student Support

• Observe and assist experienced teachers during individual and group lessons
• Help students develop basic technique, rhythm, musicality and confidence
• Guide students through exercises, repertoire and practice activities
• Conduct selected lesson segments or beginner lessons under supervision
• Adapt activities to suit students of different ages and learning styles
• Help students prepare for performances, assessments or examinations
• Provide encouraging and constructive feedback
• Track students’ progress and assist with brief lesson notes
• Communicate relevant progress or concerns to the supervising teacher
• Help create a safe, patient and enjoyable learning environment

Lesson and Programme Preparation

• Prepare teaching materials, exercises, games and backing tracks
• Assist with lesson planning and beginner-level curriculum development
• Help organise instruments, equipment and classrooms
• Support workshops, trial lessons, holiday programmes, recitals and student events
• Participate in training, lesson reviews and feedback sessions

Social Media and Student Recruitment

• Assist in creating educational and engaging music content for social media
• Help produce short videos, practice tips, lesson highlights and teacher introductions
• Promote trial lessons, workshops, performances and studio programmes
• Suggest content ideas that may appeal to prospective students and parents
• Assist with enquiries and trial-lesson activities when required
• Obtain permission before recording or publishing identifiable images or videos of students

Requirements

• Currently pursuing, or recently completed, a music-related qualification
• Proficient in Piano, Guitar or Ukulele and able to demonstrate good fundamental technique
• Recommended minimum standard of Grade 5 or equivalent in the primary instrument; higher certification would be an advantage
• Basic understanding of music theory
• Patient, encouraging and comfortable working with children
• Responsible, punctual and committed to assigned teaching schedules
• Willing to receive feedback and develop as a teacher
• Able to communicate clearly with students, parents and colleagues
• Available during some after-school hours, evenings or weekends
• Prior teaching experience is helpful but not required
• Familiarity with social-media content creation would be an advantage
