  • Currently pursuing a Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in:
    • Mechanical Engineering
    • Electrical Engineering
    • Building Services Engineering
    • Facilities Management
    • Property Management
    • Building Maintenance
    • Civil Engineering
    • or a related field.
  • Interested in hands-on facilities and technical work.
  • Basic understanding of building services or engineering principles.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willing to learn and work at operational sites.
  • Able to work independently as well as with a team.
  • Responsible, observant and proactive in identifying problems.
  • Good computer skills, particularly Microsoft Excel and basic reporting tools.

Important Safety Note

This is a learning and support role. Interns will not independently perform high-risk electrical, mechanical, fire-system or other specialist maintenance activities. Such activities must be carried out by appropriately trained and authorised personnel, with the intern participating only where permitted and under suitable supervision.

Responsibilities

 

About the Role

ParkIt is looking for a motivated and hands-on Building Maintenance Intern to support our facilities and parking operations team.

This internship provides practical exposure to the day-to-day maintenance and operation of multi-storey parking facilities, building services, equipment and site infrastructure. The intern will work alongside our operations and technical teams to understand how facilities are maintained safely, reliably and efficiently.

This is an ideal opportunity for students who want to build practical experience in building maintenance, facilities management, electrical/mechanical systems, engineering or property operations.

Key Responsibilities

1. Building & Facility Maintenance

  • Assist the maintenance team in conducting routine inspections of parking facilities and building services.
  • Support preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
  • Inspect common areas, car park levels, staircases, ramps, equipment rooms and other facility areas.
  • Identify defects, abnormalities and maintenance issues and escalate them to the relevant person-in-charge.
  • Assist in maintaining basic maintenance records and equipment registers.

2. M&E and Building Services Support

Gain practical exposure to basic building systems and equipment, including:

  • Electrical systems and distribution boards.
  • Lighting and electrical fixtures.
  • Pump room and water-related equipment.
  • Generator sets (gensets).
  • Fire alarm and related life-safety systems.
  • CCTV and other site systems.
  • Parking equipment such as barrier gates, terminals and related systems.

Interns may assist qualified technicians during inspections, troubleshooting and maintenance activities, subject to the appropriate safety requirements and supervision.

3. Site Inspection & Preventive Maintenance

  • Participate in scheduled site inspections.
  • Assist in identifying potential equipment failures and facility defects before they become major issues.
  • Record observations, photographs and maintenance findings.
  • Follow up on outstanding maintenance items and corrective actions.
  • Assist in monitoring the condition and cleanliness of technical areas and equipment rooms.

4. Contractor & Vendor Coordination

  • Assist the Facilities / Operations team during contractor and vendor visits.
  • Support site access, work coordination and basic documentation.
  • Observe contractor work to ensure activities are carried out according to approved requirements and site procedures.
  • Assist with tracking outstanding works, defects and rectification activities.

5. Safety & Compliance

  • Follow ParkIt's safety, health and environmental requirements at all times.
  • Participate in site safety briefings and toolbox meetings where required.
  • Learn and apply appropriate procedures for emergency situations, including fire, electrical incidents and evacuation.
  • Report unsafe conditions, hazards and incidents immediately.
  • Comply with site access, Permit-to-Work (PTW) and contractor control requirements.

6. Reporting & Documentation

  • Maintain daily or weekly maintenance records as required.
  • Assist in preparing inspection reports, defect lists and maintenance updates.
  • Update maintenance trackers and follow up on outstanding issues.
  • Support the team in preparing operational and maintenance reports.

7. Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve facility reliability, maintenance efficiency and operating costs.
  • Suggest practical solutions to recurring maintenance issues.
  • Support initiatives relating to energy efficiency, equipment monitoring and technology adoption.
