Requirements

• Currently pursuing a Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in:
• Mechanical Engineering
• Electrical Engineering
• Building Services Engineering
• Facilities Management
• Property Management
• Building Maintenance
• Civil Engineering
• or a related field.
• Interested in hands-on facilities and technical work.
• Basic understanding of building services or engineering principles.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Willing to learn and work at operational sites.
• Able to work independently as well as with a team.
• Responsible, observant and proactive in identifying problems.
• Good computer skills, particularly Microsoft Excel and basic reporting tools.

Important Safety Note

This is a learning and support role. Interns will not independently perform high-risk electrical, mechanical, fire-system or other specialist maintenance activities. Such activities must be carried out by appropriately trained and authorised personnel, with the intern participating only where permitted and under suitable supervision.

Key Responsibilities

1. Electrical System Inspection & Maintenance

• Assist the engineering team with routine inspection of electrical installations and equipment.
• Support inspection of electrical panels, distribution boards, lighting systems, power supplies and related electrical accessories.
• Assist in identifying electrical defects, abnormalities and potential safety hazards.
• Support preventive and corrective maintenance activities under appropriate supervision.
• Record equipment conditions, defects and maintenance findings accurately.

2. Parking System & Electrical Equipment

Gain practical exposure to electrical systems supporting ParkIt’s parking operations, including:

• Entry and exit barrier gates
• Parking terminals and payment equipment
• CCTV systems
• LPR cameras and related equipment
• Car Park Management System (CPMS)
• Emergency/intercom systems
• UPS systems
• Network and power cabling
• Sub-metering and related electrical infrastructure

The MRTC technical scope includes electrical works for panels/boards, barrier gates, terminals and CCTV, together with cabling, earthing, SLDs, cable-routing drawings and testing & commissioning.

3. Testing, Troubleshooting & Commissioning

• Assist technicians and engineers during testing and commissioning activities.
• Support basic troubleshooting and fault-finding activities.
• Assist with electrical measurements and equipment checks where appropriate.
• Help investigate recurring faults and identify possible root causes.
• Support documentation of test results and corrective actions.

4. Building M&E Systems

Develop practical exposure to building-related electrical and M&E systems, including:

• Pump room systems
• Genset / backup power systems
• Fire alarm systems
• Building lighting
• Electrical distribution systems
• Emergency and safety-related electrical systems

ParkIt’s MRTC project discussions specifically identify pump rooms, gensets, fire-alarm resets and electrical-shock incidents as areas requiring appropriate technician training and support.

5. Site Inspection & Preventive Maintenance

• Participate in scheduled site inspections across ParkIt facilities.
• Assist in preparing inspection checklists and preventive maintenance schedules.
• Monitor outstanding defects and follow up on rectification status.
• Help maintain accurate asset and equipment records.
• Escalate critical electrical or safety issues to the responsible engineer/technical personnel.

6. Contractor & Vendor Coordination

• Assist engineers during contractor and vendor site activities.
• Observe and support installation, testing and maintenance works.
• Help verify completed works against agreed requirements.
• Assist with site documentation, photographs, checklists and progress tracking.
• Support coordination between ParkIt, contractors and relevant project stakeholders.

7. Safety, Compliance & Permit-to-Work

• Follow ParkIt and MRTC safety, health and environmental requirements.
• Attend site safety briefings and toolbox meetings where required.
• Follow Permit-to-Work (PTW) and site-access procedures.
• Identify and report electrical hazards and unsafe conditions.
• Participate in emergency response, fire-safety and evacuation briefings as applicable.

8. Engineering Documentation & Reporting

• Prepare daily/weekly maintenance and inspection records.
• Update defect and corrective-action trackers.
• Assist in preparing technical reports and maintenance summaries.
• Maintain electrical drawings, equipment records and documentation where applicable.
