United World College Of South East Asia Hiring! Part Time Freelance Music Instructor Indian Classical Instruments in - Ricebowl

UWCSEA Dover seeks a qualified Freelance Music Instructor specialising in Indian classical instruments to start as soon as possible. We are particularly keen to recruit teachers of sitar, tabla, bansuri, and veena (or Carnatic violin), though specialists in other Indian classical instruments (Hindustani or Carnatic) are also welcome to apply.

Reporting directly to the ITP Coordinator on the Dover Campus, the successful candidate will deliver individual and paired instrumental lessons within the Instrumental Teaching Programme (ITP). Suitable candidates may also have opportunities to support ensemble activities and introductory lesson programmes.

While individual and paired lessons in Indian classical music represent a growth area for the department, there is a growing community interest for these lessons in school

United World College South East Asia, Instrumental Teaching Programme, aims to develop the full potential in all our student instrumentalists and vocalists.

Main Responsibilities

• Strong ability in delivering instrumental lessons to students of all abilities and ages.
• Provide highest teaching standards – planning and preparing lessons in relation to individual students’ needs and examination syllabuses.
• Maintaining up-to-date knowledge and awareness of examination requirements as required.
• Liaising with parents, ITP Coordinator and Music Department members regarding student progress and attainment.
• To think creatively to provide innovative lessons that are engaging, fun and challenging.
• To work collaboratively with students, colleagues and other UWCSEA team members.
• Supporting student performances and recitals throughout the year.
• A good understanding of the health and safety requirements of working as a musician.

Person Specifications

• Music qualification or an equivalent
• Minimum of 3-5 years experience
• Experience in delivering music lessons to students in a school or similar environment.
• Well­-organized and able to work with limited supervision
• Ability to collaborate with other staff members in the college
• To demonstrate a commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of students and members of the UWCSEA community.
