Introduction
As a Supply Chain Intern in a manufacturing plant, the position supports the Supply Chain team in procurement, warehouse, inventory and material planning activities. The role provides hands-on exposure to supply chain operations within a chemical manufacturing environment while assisting in monitoring material availability, delivery schedules, stock levels and process improvement initiatives.
Job Description
Procurement Support
- Assist in converting Purchasing Requests into Purchasing Orders under the guidance of the Supply Chain team.
- Follow up on PO status and delivery schedules with suppliers.
- Maintain and update purchasing records.
Material Delivery Monitoring
- Assist in monitoring incoming material schedules.
- Follow up with suppliers and forwarders on delivery status.
- Update material arrival schedules and highlight potential delays to the team.
Inventory & Stock Management Support
- Assist in monitoring material stock levels and consumption.
- Compare stock levels against stock policies and production requirements.
- Assist in identifying potential material shortages, excess stock or expiry risks.
Warehouse Operations Support
- Assist in monitoring material receiving, storage and issuing activities.
- Support warehouse documentation and inventory records.
- Assist in maintaining proper material storage and housekeeping practices.
Supply Chain Data Analysis
- Collect and analyse purchasing, inventory and delivery data.
- Prepare reports and summaries to support supply chain planning and decision-making.
Process Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve procurement, warehouse and supply chain processes.
- Contribute to Work Improvement Suggestions and assist in implementing agreed improvements.
