Responsibilities


Role Description This part-time remote role combines responsibilities of HR Assistant, Recruitment Coordinator, and Training Associate to support the journal’s growing team. Day-to-day tasks include assisting with recruitment activities such as posting job ads, scheduling interviews, coordinating candidate communications, and maintaining accurate applicant records. The role supports general HR operations by updating employee information in HR systems, assisting with onboarding, and helping administer benefits-related documentation in coordination with centralized HR. In addition, the position contributes to training initiatives by organizing virtual training sessions, preparing materials, tracking participation, and supporting the continuous development of staff. The role also involves responding to routine HR inquiries, ensuring compliance with internal policies, and collaborating with managers and editorial leadership to facilitate a positive employee experience.

Qualifications

  • Human Resources (HR) and HR Management skills to support day-to-day HR operations, recruitment processes, and employee lifecycle activities.
  • Experience with Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) to maintain accurate staff records, generate reports, and ensure data integrity.
  • Knowledge of Benefits Administration to assist with documentation, employee questions, and coordination with centralized HR or external providers.
  • Training skills to organize, coordinate, and support remote learning sessions and onboarding programs for new and existing team members.
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities, with attention to detail in a remote, part-time setting.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across distributed teams.
  • Proficiency with standard office and collaboration tools (e.g., email, spreadsheets, HR platforms, video conferencing software).
  • Prior experience in academic publishing, research environments, or a similar knowledge-based organization is an advantage.
  • Relevant education or certification in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
