Job Description

Responsibilities

Operations Management Intern

Portfolio Company of a Private Equity Firm

About the Role

We are looking for a driven and commercially minded Operations Management Intern to join one of our portfolio companies.

This is a hands-on role designed for someone who wants exposure to how a growing business is actually operated, improved and scaled. You will work closely with the management team on operational improvement initiatives, performance tracking, process optimisation and special projects.

Unlike a traditional internship focused primarily on administrative work, you will be expected to analyse problems, work directly with operational teams and help implement solutions.

The role is particularly suitable for someone interested in operations, entrepreneurship, private equity, business management or eventually running a company.

Key ResponsibilitiesOperational Improvement

  • Analyse existing operational processes and identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks and improvement opportunities.
  • Work with department managers and frontline teams to understand operational challenges.
  • Help design and implement improved workflows, SOPs and operating processes.
  • Track whether operational improvements are delivering measurable results.

Performance & Data Analysis

  • Assist management in monitoring key operational KPIs.
  • Analyse productivity, manpower utilisation, costs, service levels and operational performance.
  • Build reports and dashboards to help management make faster decisions.
  • Investigate underperformance and identify root causes.

Project Management

  • Support operational improvement and transformation projects from planning through implementation.
  • Coordinate with different departments to ensure projects are executed on schedule.
  • Follow up on action items, deadlines and deliverables.
  • Help management maintain visibility across multiple ongoing initiatives.

Process & SOP Development

  • Document existing operational processes.
  • Develop and improve Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Identify opportunities for automation, digitalisation and better use of technology.
  • Help standardise processes as the company grows.

Management Support & Special Projects

  • Work directly with senior management on strategic and operational projects.
  • Conduct research and analysis relating to new initiatives, expansion opportunities and operational investments.
  • Prepare management presentations, business cases and recommendations.
  • Support ad-hoc projects arising from the company's growth and private equity value-creation initiatives.

What You Will Learn

This internship provides exposure to areas that are typically difficult to experience in a conventional internship, including:

  • How management teams operate and scale businesses
  • Operational problem solving and process improvement
  • KPI design and performance management
  • Business analytics and management reporting
  • Cost and productivity optimisation
  • Project implementation
  • Technology and automation within operations
  • Private equity portfolio company management
  • How investors and management teams identify and execute value-creation opportunities

You will have the opportunity to see how operational decisions translate directly into improvements in profitability, productivity and enterprise value.

Who We Are Looking For

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Highly analytical and comfortable working with numbers
  • Curious about how businesses actually operate
  • Comfortable working in a fast-moving environment
  • Able to communicate effectively with both management and frontline employees
  • Organised and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Proactive and willing to take ownership of problems
  • Comfortable working with Excel, spreadsheets and data
  • Able to think logically and break complicated problems into manageable parts

Candidates studying Business, Engineering, Operations Management, Finance, Economics, Supply Chain, Data Analytics or related disciplines are encouraged to apply.

However, academic background is less important than initiative, analytical ability and willingness to learn.

What Makes This Internship Different

You will not simply observe the business.

You will be expected to find problems, analyse them and help fix them.

As part of a company backed by a private equity investor, there is a strong focus on measurable operational improvement, scalability and value creation.

High-performing interns may be given ownership of individual improvement projects and the opportunity to present their findings and recommendations directly to senior management and investors.

How to Apply

Please submit your CV together with a short introduction explaining:

  • Why you are interested in operations and business management.
  • An example of a problem you identified and solved.
  • What you hope to learn from working inside a private equity-backed portfolio company.

Pay: $800.00 - $1,200.00 per month

Work Location: In person
