SmartRetail Hiring! Part Time Field Installation Technician in - Ricebowl

THE ROLE

SmartRetail builds Edge AI and computer vision devices deployed at retail stores, malls, transport hubs, and other physical locations across Hong Kong, Japan, Taiwan, Singapore, and Malaysia. We're looking for installers to handle site approval, on-site setup, and ongoing maintenance of our Perceptron Box (PB) and Perceptron Smart Box (PSB) devices.

> Before the install

• Preparing and submitting the site approval paperwork, including the method statement and risk assessment, to the site or landlord ahead of the scheduled install date.

> On-site installation

• Mounting the device at the install location and running power, HDMI, LAN, and camera cabling.
• Connecting and positioning the USB or IP camera, and checking its placement and field of view against the site's layout.
• Connecting the device to Wi-Fi or a LAN cable and confirming its online status (status indicators, IP address, or on-screen network status).

> Ongoing maintenance

• Periodic return visits to check the mount, cabling, and camera lens are intact and the device is still online, escalating anything beyond a simple fix to our technical team.

You'll work from step-by-step checklists and templates SmartRetail provides for each site.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• Comfortable with hands-on hardware work: cable routing, device mounting, basic hand tools.
• Able to follow detailed written checklists precisely (a skipped or reordered step can affect the device down the line).
• Basic networking know-how: connecting to Wi-Fi or a LAN cable, checking that a connection is live.
• Comfortable preparing basic site documents such as method statements and risk assessments, or willing to learn using our templates.
• Reliable, and available for periodic return visits, not just a one-time install.
• Able to travel to install sites within the assigned city or region; own transport preferred.

Nice to have, not required:

• Experience installing POS terminals, kiosks, CCTV, or digital signage hardware.
• Experience with site permit or method statement processes for retail, mall, or construction sites.
