Are you confident in Japanese and enjoy working with children? We’re looking for a Freelance Japanese Language Instructor to conduct a fun and engaging weekly Japanese Language CCA for children in Punggol .
Classes should build students’ Japanese language skills through speaking, listening, vocabulary, games, activities, and cultural learning . The instructor should be comfortable co-developing lesson plans with our team , with teaching materials and resources arranged as needed.
Availability required: Tuesdays, 3:30pm–5:00pm , weekly during the school term.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct engaging Japanese lessons: Deliver structured, age-appropriate weekly classes.
- Build practical language skills: Develop students’ vocabulary, pronunciation, listening and conversational confidence.
- Make learning interactive: Use games, role-play, songs and hands-on activities to reinforce learning.
- Co-develop lesson plans: Work with our team to plan suitable weekly lessons and activities.
- Introduce Japanese culture: Incorporate age-appropriate cultural elements into lessons.
- Manage the classroom effectively: Maintain a positive, organised and supportive learning environment.
Key Requirements
- Strong proficiency in Japanese (spoken and written).
- Comfortable planning and adapting lessons for children.
- Willing to co-develop lesson plans and activities with our programme team.
- Engaging, patient and confident classroom presence.
- Reliable and professional in a school setting.
- Willing to undergo a background check (required for school settings).
- Able to commit every Tuesday, 3:30pm–5:00pm in Punggol , for a minimum of 6 months (excluding school holidays).
Bonus (Not Required)
- Prior experience teaching Japanese as a foreign language .
- Experience teaching children in schools, enrichment programmes, tuition or CCAs.
- Relevant Japanese language teaching qualifications or certifications.
Interview & Selection Process
Candidates will undergo a 3-stage process:
- Initial Screening (Video Call) – Short interview to discuss experience, availability and suitability.
- Face-to-Face Session & Trial Lesson Segment – In-person meeting and a short teaching demonstration.
- Tryout Class (Final Review) – Conduct a supervised class for final evaluation.
Support & Materials
- Lesson planning support from the Whizz Kidz team.
- Teaching materials and resources can be arranged based on the agreed lesson plans.
- Classroom management guidance and ongoing programme support.
