Company Description GMT Machinery Sdn Bhd is a Malaysian company that has been supporting bakeries nationwide since 2004 with high-quality bakery machines, ovens, and bread roll lines. With a dedicated team of around 20 employees, the company provides equipment that covers the full bakery production process, from kneading and mixing to baking, cooling, and freezing. GMT Machinery serves both artisan and commercial bakeries, offering tailored machines and comprehensive project solutions. The company focuses on accommodating diverse local tastes and preferences while delivering reliable, innovative solutions that help bakers in their daily operations.

Role Description The Mechanical Engineering Intern will support the design, testing, and improvement of bakery machinery and production line equipment. Day-to-day tasks may include assisting with mechanical design work, preparing and updating technical drawings, participating in equipment installation and commissioning, and supporting troubleshooting and maintenance activities on-site. The intern will collaborate with engineers and technicians to collect data, document findings, and contribute to continuous improvement projects related to machine performance and safety. This is an internship role based on-site in the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, offering hands-on experience in a bakery machinery manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

  • Strong foundation in Mechanical Engineering principles and an interest in machinery design and production systems.
  • Proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools for creating and updating mechanical drawings and models.
  • Analytical Skills for problem-solving, data collection, performance analysis, and process improvement.
  • Effective Communication skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams, documenting technical work, and reporting findings.
  • Basic Project Management abilities to support planning, scheduling, and coordination of engineering tasks.
  • Currently enrolled in or recently completed a degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Ability to work safely in an industrial environment and follow established procedures and guidelines.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing or machinery maintenance environments is an advantage.
