The
Pastry Cook (Part-time)
will support the kitchen operations by preparing ingredients, operating baking equipment, and producing high-quality pastries and confectionery items. This role requires high precision in following recipes, excellent physical stamina, and a strong commitment to cleanliness and hygiene standards.
Key Responsibilities
Production & Baking
- Recipe Execution: Scale, measure, and mix raw ingredients accurately according to established formulas and batch sheets.
- Baking & Cooking: Operate commercial ovens, mixers, laminators, and specialized confectionery equipment safely and efficiently.
- Finishing & Decorating: Apply glazes, icings, fillings, and toppings to finished products, ensuring consistent presentation across large batches.
- Quality Control: Inspect final products for correct texture, appearance, and taste, reporting any defective batches to the supervisor.
Kitchen Operations & Hygiene
- Food Safety Compliance: Adhere strictly to local food hygiene regulations, HACCP protocols, and factory sanitation guidelines.
- Workplace Cleanliness: Maintain a clean work station by regularly washing utensils, sanitizing surfaces, and clearing production waste.
- Inventory Management: Monitor raw ingredient stock levels at the station and notify the administration team when supplies are running low.
- Storage & Rotation: Label, date, and properly store ingredients and semi-finished products using the First-In, First-Out (FIFO) method.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Education: Certificate or Diploma in Pastry & Baking Arts, Culinary Arts, or a related field. Valid Food Safety Course Level 1 certification is mandatory in Singapore.
- Experience: 1 to 3 years of hands-on experience as a pastry cook, baker, or commis chef. Experience in a high-volume central kitchen or food manufacturing plant is highly advantageous.
- Skills: Strong understanding of baking science, dough handling, temperature control, and industrial kitchen machinery.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods, and work in hot kitchen environments.
