Job Purpose
The Store Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the store and ensuring it runs efficiently during assigned shifts. This role supports the Store Manager in achieving sales targets, maintaining inventory accuracy, delivering excellent customer service, and supervising store staff. The Store Supervisor ensures compliance with company policies, operational procedures, and health and safety standards while fostering a productive and customer-focused work environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Store Operations & Performance
- Supervise daily store operations to ensure smooth workflow and efficient service.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, SOPs, and operational standards.
- Monitor store activities and report operational issues to the Store Manager.
- Maintain store cleanliness, organization, and visual merchandising standards.
- Assist in implementing promotional activities and store initiatives.
2. Sales & Customer Experience
- Deliver and promote excellent customer service standards among team members.
- Assist customers with inquiries, concerns, and product recommendations.
- Resolve customer complaints professionally and escalate issues when necessary.
- Support sales growth by ensuring product availability and effective merchandising.
- Monitor customer feedback and suggest improvements to enhance the shopping experience.
3. Inventory & Stock Management
- Monitor stock levels and coordinate replenishment activities.
- Assist with stock receiving, checking, and storage procedures.
- Conduct routine stock counts and support monthly and quarterly stocktakes.
- Identify discrepancies, damaged goods, and slow-moving items for corrective action.
- Support loss prevention initiatives and minimize stock shrinkage.
4. Team Supervision & Development
- Supervise store staff during assigned shifts and ensure duties are completed effectively.
- Assist with onboarding and training of new employees.
- Delegate tasks and monitor staff performance to ensure productivity and service standards.
- Provide coaching and guidance to team members.
- Support the Store Manager in handling attendance, scheduling, and disciplinary matters.
5. Cash Handling & Administrative Duties
- Oversee POS operations and ensure accurate transaction processing.
- Assist with cash handling, balancing tills, and end-of-shift reconciliations.
- Prepare basic operational reports and submit required documentation.
- Ensure proper record keeping and compliance with company procedures.
6. Safety, Compliance & Store Standards
- Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations.
- Conduct routine checks to maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and safety standards.
- Ensure staff adhere to company policies and procedures.
- Report safety hazards, maintenance issues, and operational concerns promptly.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Diploma in Business Administration, Retail Management, or a related field.
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience in retail operations or store supervision, preferably in a supermarket, convenience store, or FMCG environment.
- Strong supervisory and team coordination skills.
- Good understanding of retail operations, inventory management, merchandising, and customer service.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in POS systems, MS Office applications, and basic retail management software.
- Mandarin-speaking ability is highly advantageous.
- Flexible to work weekends, evenings, and public holidays.
