Company Description GMT Machinery Sdn Bhd is a Malaysian company that has been providing high-quality bakery machines, ovens, and bread roll lines to bakeries nationwide since 2004. With a dedicated team of around 20 employees, the company delivers innovative solutions that support bakers in their daily operations. GMT Machinery supplies equipment for the entire bakery production process, from kneading and mixing to baking, cooling, and freezing. Serving both artisan and commercial bakeries, the company offers tailored machines and comprehensive project solutions for bread and roll production, accommodating a wide variety of local tastes and preferences.

Role Description This is an on-site internship Mechanical Engineer role based in the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The intern will assist in designing, improving, and maintaining bakery machinery and production lines, working closely with senior engineers and the production team. Day-to-day tasks may include preparing CAD drawings, supporting machine design activities, performing basic calculations, and assisting in equipment testing, installation, and troubleshooting. The intern will contribute to R&D projects, help document technical specifications, and support project coordination to ensure equipment meets performance, safety, and quality standards.

Qualifications

  • Solid understanding of Mechanical Engineering principles and basic Machine Design skills.
  • Proficiency or coursework in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar).
  • Ability to support Project Management activities such as planning tasks, tracking progress, and documenting project milestones.
  • Interest or experience in Research and Development (R&D), including testing prototypes and analyzing performance data.
  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and safety standards.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a workshop and production environment and communicate clearly with cross-functional teams.
  • Willingness to learn about bakery production processes and machinery; prior exposure to industrial equipment is an advantage.
