It's so easy to be forgetful nowadays, especially when you have so many things to remember. We're working longer and harder, to the point that we forget what time and day it is. Remembering to clock in and out seems impossible. But there are ways to help remind you to always clock in.

Here's how to never forget when to clock in and out of work.

1. Set a five-minute alarm or reminder on your phone

We're basically on our phones 24/7 now, except when we're working and the work does not involve the phone. So, it's a good idea to set an alarm five minutes before you reach the office to remind you to clock in.

If the phone is not on your hand, the loud ringing from the alarm should remind you. If you prefer to be silent, you can always turn on the vibration for the alarm.

These tips will help to remind you to clock in every time you come to work.

2. Use a post-it note

You can also put a post-it note on your desk or even monitor to remind yourself to clock in and out. Since humans tend to get used to things quickly, you should change the colour of the note and message every week, so that the note doesn't turn into just another decoration.

3. Find a coworker that can be your reminder buddy

What's important? Teamwork! Pair up with a coworker who shows up to work at the same time as you do, and agree to ask each other every workday if they have remembered to clock in.

What if I clock in with a website?

If your organisation uses a website to clock in, there are ways to help remind you when to clock in.

1. Make the login page your home page.

You can set your browser, be it Chrome or Firefox, to your timeclock's login page so that before you start your work, the first thing you see if your time clock.

2. Add a bookmark on the bookmarks bar

If you already have a favourite homepage, you can add a link right underneath the address bar of your browser. Press Ctrl + D to add a bookmark and then sort it to the bookmarks bar.

Make the bookmark bar visible by clicking the bookmarks button on your browser and then the selection to view the bookmarks bar.
