As a jobseeker or an employee, do you ever wonder what goes on in the minds of CEOs? Wonder how they think and what they feel about how the working world is like from their end of the spectrum? Well, we do! Thus we at ricebowl.my have taken up the challenge of diving deep into the brains of successful people to find out what exactly makes them tick.

We recently had a peek into the mind of the Chief Managing Director of Launchpad Marketing, Mr. Aaron Goh. Here’s what we found out on...

Hiring The Right Candidates

The biggest challenges faced by employers today is finding the right fit for the company. During the interview process, many people may have the qualified abilities to do the job, but the correct mindset is much more difficult to find.

Sometimes, during the interview process, the prospects may look very promising, attitude and abilities are a fit for the company. But after they start working, you slowly start to realize that there are some people who are very good at promising, but not very good at keeping those promises.

What Makes A Good Candidate And Employee?

Someone who is resourceful. Someone who will proactively figure things out if they don’t know about something. Someone who is reactive to circumstances rather than being passive. Someone with a sense of responsibility, a person who does not need to ask their higher ups “hey how do I do this/what do I do now?” for everything. Employers love employees who are always hungry, always looking for more ways to rise up the ranks and improve themselves.

Employers are all looking for someone to add value to the company, meaning someone who is capable of bringing something to the table for the company. Someone with all the qualities mentioned, is the perfect candidate to add value to any company!

No Show Culture

This is one of the biggest annoyances for employers in our generation. In our parents time, there were many quality applications because applying for a job was actually a long and tedious task. Nowadays, it’s too easy to apply for jobs, our generation starts to believe that there are many job positions available for them and thus take it for granted.

Most of the time, they will come up with all sorts of excuses from cars breaking down to their family members passing away. Aaron mentions that most employers are understanding, as emergencies are unavoidable at times, and they are very understanding about it, usually offering a reschedule. Yet, even with such leeway today, jobseekers have a tendency to be no-shows.

The worst part of it all is the timing at which they[jobseekers] choose to FFK or no show. When? At the last minute, when employers are already sitting in the interview room looking at their watch wondering where the interviewee is. At moments like these, you get all sorts of “sorry I cannot make it” texts, and this really shows a lot of negativity in behavior.

Company Culture

Flexible hours is the best. Launchpad believes that everyone is a responsible adult, and as adults, there will undeniably be certain personal matters to attend to at times, and it is their right to be respected for it. However, there is still an imposed KPI, just to help everyone be keeping on track with their work.

Skills VS Attitude

The most important thing is attitude, 100% of the time. Skills can be taught, attitude cannot be. With the wrong attitude, even with the perfect skillset, an employee will not optimally perform. On the flip side, with a great attitude, and low skillset, one can learn along the way because of their mental approach to the job. For example, a person with no management skills can be taught if they have the right attitude.

                                                        Attitude is everything.
