Leaving a project half completed is just going to stress you out.

  • It is unwise to move onto a new task without completing one that is still unfinished and in the back of your head.

  • When you finish a job, your brain has a rush of endorphins making you feel more happy and relaxed. It’s like you are rewarding yourself!

  • Give yourself that burst of happiness and lease of energy by finishing what you started before moving on to the next thing on your to-do list!

    Plan Your Week in Advance

    A well planned to-do list will reduce hours of procrastinating and confusion about what you should do next. 

  • At the start of the week, spend some time making a detailed list of what you want to do and what you want to accomplish 

  • If you do this, you can choose the most important jobs to complete and not waste your time!

    A good way to test your efficiency is to keep track of the time that you spend on each project.

  • You should write down how much time you spend on each task and activity, and you will be able to identify where you are wasting the most time on and change it to be more efficient.

    Taking breaks is essential to increasing your productivity. 

  • There is no way that you can be as efficient as you were at the start of the day if you keep working non-stop.

  • Studies show that you cannot focus for over 90 minutes at a time, which suggests that after every 90 minutes of work you take a short break.

    Positive thinking can have quite a big impact on how productive you are at work.

  • For example, you are under pressure because you have tight deadlines.

     If you are negative and keep thinking about the deadline, you are wasting time thinking about the deadlines.

  •  If you stay positive and just do it, you’re actively doing your work thus increasing the chances of actually hitting that deadline on time.

    Whether it’s your phone ringing, a colleague chit-chatting or the radio blasting in the background, distractions in the workplace can affect your efficiency and motivation levels greatly. 

  • Try to avoid those interruptions as much as possible.

  • You could turn your phone off and use noise-cancelling headphones to keep yourself as focused as possible.

  • You could even be old fashioned and use a notebook to manage your time more effectively.

  • Everytime you done something, tick off tasks through the day.

    Poor communication can cost time and money, be sure to communicate clearly and concisely when you are discussing anything in the workplace.

  • Consider who you will be speaking to and what their preferred method of communication is.
