Responsibilities:
• Manage & Monitor: Mechanical systems that meet the specific needs of a hospital, including HVAC, plumbing, medical gas, and fire protection systems. Ensure that all systems meet relevant safety, health, and environmental standards.
• Oversee construction projects: Supervise construction projects to ensure that mechanical systems are installed correctly and in compliance with design specifications and safety standards. Collaborate with contractors and other engineers to resolve design issues and ensure project timelines are met.
• Maintain project documentation: Create and maintain project documentation, including design specifications, construction plans, and project schedules. Provide regular updates to project stakeholders.
• Manage project budgets: Develop and manage project budgets for mechanical systems, including estimating costs, tracking expenses, and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
• Ensure compliance with regulations and standards: Ensure that all mechanical systems meet relevant regulations and standards for healthcare facilities, such as the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards, American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) guidelines, and other applicable codes and standards.
• Coordinate with other departments: Coordinate with other departments, such as electrical and structural engineering, to ensure that all mechanical systems are integrated with other building systems in the hospital.
• Provide technical guidance: Provide technical guidance and support to other engineers and technicians as needed. Mentor junior engineers and technicians to help them develop their skills and knowledge.
• Conduct periodic inspections: Conduct periodic inspections of mechanical systems to ensure they are operating properly and efficiently. Address any issues as needed to maintain optimal performance and reduce energy consumption
• Report and escalate to management as needed
• Perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements:
• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in Project Management and Mechanical Engineering (in the construction industry)
• Must have a strong understanding of mechanical systems and be able to use computer-aided design (CAD) software to create and modify designs.
• Must also have strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with other engineers, contractors, and clients.
• Willing to travel and possess own transport.
• Knowledge of Spreadsheet software, Word processing software, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Project.
• Good communication and writing skills in Bahasa Malaysia and English
• Multi‐tasking, problem‐solving skills and being a team player.
• Knowledge of Electrical & ELV design for building construction works.
