Brew & Bites is looking for a reliable and motivated Junior Chef / Commis Chef to join our kitchen team.

Our kitchen will operate based on standardised recipes and SOPs, which will be provided. We are not necessarily looking for a highly experienced Head Chef — we are looking for someone with good basic cooking skills, a positive attitude, and most importantly, the ability to follow recipes and SOPs accurately and consistently.

Training and guidance on our menu preparation will be provided.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook menu items according to Brew & Bites recipes and SOPs.
• Follow specified ingredient measurements, cooking methods, timing and presentation standards.
• Ensure food quality and taste remain consistent for every order.
• Carry out basic food preparation, cooking, heating, frying, grilling and plating as required.
• Prepare ingredients and mise en place before service.
• Follow proper portion control to minimise food wastage.
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen and workstations.
• Follow food safety, hygiene and storage procedures.
• Monitor ingredients and inform management when stocks are running low.
• Properly label, store and rotate ingredients according to FIFO practices.
• Work efficiently during busy service periods.
• Coordinate with the café service and beverage team to ensure orders are prepared on time.
• Assist with opening and closing kitchen procedures.

Requirements

• Previous experience working in a café, restaurant or commercial kitchen is preferred.
• Basic cooking and food preparation skills.
• Able and willing to follow recipes and SOPs precisely.
• Good understanding of kitchen hygiene and food safety.
• Responsible, punctual and disciplined.
• Able to maintain consistency even during busy periods.
• Willing to learn and receive training.
• Able to work well independently and as part of a team.
• Able to work shifts, weekends and public holidays when required.

Culinary qualifications are an advantage but not compulsory.
