We're Hiring: Cost Accountant

Location: Petaling Jaya, Selangor
Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent (On-site)

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Cost Accountant to support the company's financial and operational performance through effective cost management, analysis, and reporting.

The Cost Accountant will be responsible for monitoring production costs, inventory valuation, cost analysis, budgeting support, and profitability assessments. This role works closely with the Finance, Operations, Procurement, and Production teams to ensure accurate cost allocation, identify cost-saving opportunities, and drive continuous improvement in financial performance.

The ideal candidate possesses strong accounting knowledge, experience in a manufacturing or production environment, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to translate financial data into actionable business insights.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain product costing, standard costing, and cost analysis reports.
• Monitor manufacturing and operational costs, identify variances, and recommend corrective actions.
• Perform inventory valuation, inventory reconciliation, and stock movement analysis.
• Analyze material, labour, and overhead costs to identify opportunities for improved profitability.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
• Prepare monthly cost performance reports and management dashboards.
• Work closely with Operations and Procurement teams to optimize cost efficiency and control spending.
• Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities related to inventory and cost accounting.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, and company policies.
• Support internal and external audits by providing relevant cost and inventory documentation.
• Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance costing accuracy and strengthen financial controls.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Professional accounting qualifications such as ACCA, CIMA, CPA, or equivalent will be an added advantage.
• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in cost accounting, preferably within a manufacturing or production environment.
• Strong knowledge of inventory accounting, costing methodologies, and financial reporting.
• Experience with ERP systems and strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Able to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
