Metal Press Operator Job Summary

The Metal Press Operator is responsible for operating metal stamping/press machines, monitoring production processes, and supporting daily manufacturing activities in a metal fabrication environment. The role also involves leading and guiding a small team of operators to achieve production targets while ensuring quality, safety, and workplace standards are consistently met.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate metal press machines (stamping/pressing equipment) according to work instructions, SOPs, and production requirements.
• Set up and adjust basic machine settings under supervision, including loading materials and ensuring correct die usage.
• Monitor daily production output and ensure production targets are achieved.
• Lead and guide production operators in daily tasks, machine operation, and job assignments.
• Inspect stamped/pressed parts to ensure they meet company quality standards and customer specifications.
• Perform basic machine troubleshooting and immediately report mechanical or technical issues to the maintenance team or supervisor.
• Handle raw materials such as metal sheets/coils and ensure proper material flow into production.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the press area in accordance with 5S practices.
• Monitor material usage and minimize scrap and production waste.
• Prepare daily production reports and maintain accurate production records.
• Ensure compliance with safety procedures, especially press machine safety standards, SOPs, and company policies.
• Assist in training new operators on safe machine operation and production processes.
• Monitor team attendance, discipline, and work performance.
• Support supervisors and management in other production-related tasks when required.

Job Requirements

• Minimum PMR / SPM / Diploma or equivalent qualification.
• Experience in metal stamping, press machine operation, or manufacturing environment is an added advantage.
• Basic understanding of machine operation and production processes.
• Able to operate metal press machines and perform manual handling tasks.
• Responsible, disciplined, and committed to maintaining good attendance.
• Able to work shift rotations and overtime when required.
• Able to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and meet production targets.

Preferred Skills

• Basic knowledge of metal press machine operation and troubleshooting.
• Familiar with stamping processes, die handling, SOPs, safety procedures, and quality control standards.
• Basic computer skills for production reporting and record keeping.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Able to identify production defects and escalate issues promptly.
