Are you an experienced Python backend developer with strong technical leadership experience? We are looking for a Python Backend Tech Lead to lead a backend engineering team while remaining hands-on in development.

This role is ideal for someone with strong Python expertise who is confident in system architecture, backend development, team leadership, and building scalable and high-performance software solutions.

Employment Type: Full-Time

Working Schedule: Monday – Friday, Office Hours

Location: Damansara, Petaling Jaya

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Experience in backend development with strong hands-on experience in Python.
• At least 3 years of experience leading a technology or product team.
• Experience leading, managing, and mentoring backend development teams.
• Strong knowledge of software architecture, system design, and design patterns.
• Solid understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and software quality assurance principles.
• Experience with Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) and microservices-based systems.
• Strong experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Hands-on experience with messaging systems such as RabbitMQ, Kafka, or similar.
• Experience developing microservices and managing containerized applications.
• Experience building WebSocket-based systems.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes and container orchestration tools.
• Basic understanding of frontend development is an added advantage.
• Strong knowledge of web security standards and best practices.
• Experience in code optimization and performance tuning.
• Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
• Good leadership, communication, and team collaboration skills.

ResponsibilitiesTechnical Leadership

• Lead, manage, and mentor the backend development team.
• Set technical direction and ensure high standards of development quality.
• Train and guide developers to improve their technical capabilities and overall team performance.
• Establish development workflows and coding standards aligned with project requirements.
• Promote continuous improvement and maintain high engineering standards.

Backend Development & Architecture

• Lead backend development by writing efficient, optimized, and scalable Python code.
• Define and document technical specifications, including technology selection and development approaches.
• Contribute to architectural decisions involving microservices, system integration, and backend infrastructure.
• Ensure backend solutions are scalable, secure, reliable, maintainable, and extensible.
• Support system performance optimization and maintain the reliability of backend services.

Code Quality & System Improvement

• Conduct code reviews to identify anti-patterns and ensure adherence to best practices.
• Identify opportunities for refactoring and continuous improvement.
• Ensure software solutions meet requirements relating to quality, security, scalability, modifiability, and extensibility.
• Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues together with team members.

Stakeholder Collaboration

• Present system designs and technical implementations to team leads and the CTO.
• Ensure technical solutions are aligned with both business and technical objectives.
• Work collaboratively with development team members to resolve technical challenges.
• Perform additional duties and projects as assigned by management.
