ASEM (Advanced Semiconductor Academy of Malaysia) is a national initiative under the Malaysia IC Design Park, aligned with the National Semiconductor Strategy and led by the Ministry of Economy with strong support from the Selangor State Government and SIDEC. It aims to elevate Malaysia’s semiconductor industry from “Made in Malaysia” to “Made by Malaysia” by driving local participation in design, prototyping, and production. ASEM provides stakeholders with access to EDA tools, testing infrastructure, IP resources, MPW services, talent development programs, and the Selangor Semiconductor Fund. Through partnerships with leading international institutions and over 25 local universities, as well as collaborations with more than 150 industry partners and key foundries such as TSMC, Siltera, and xFabs, ASEM supports advanced training, headhunting for semiconductor talent, and collaborative R&D. About The Program

The Hardware Integration Engineer Apprenticeship Program focuses on developing engineers who can connect different hardware components, firmware, and communication systems into a complete working solution.

In real-world product development, individual components must work together seamlessly. Hardware integration engineers play an important role in ensuring electronic systems, sensors, communication modules, and embedded software operate as one complete system.

This programme provides hands-on exposure to hardware integration, system troubleshooting, and embedded product development.

Program Structure

The programme consists of 1 month of intensive technical training followed by 3 months of On-the-Job Training (OJT) with a company.

During the training phase at ASEM, Cyberjaya, you will gain practical exposure to:

Hardware & Electronics Integration

• Electronics Instrumentation and Measurement
• Signal Conditioning Techniques
• Mixed-Signal PCB Layout and Routing

Firmware Interaction

• C Programming
• Embedded C Development
• DSP Algorithm Implementation

Communication & Connectivity

• Linux Command Line Environment
• Bluetooth Low Energy Communication
• IoT Communication Protocols and Data Formats

System Application

• Database Storage Integration
• Real-Time Interactive Applications

During the OJT phase, you will work alongside experienced engineers, applying your technical knowledge to real development projects while gaining valuable industry experience.

Responsibilities

As an Hardware Integration Engineer Apprentice, you will:

• Support integration between hardware components and embedded firmware.
• Assist in system bring-up and troubleshooting activities.
• Test communication between devices, sensors, and modules.
• Analyse system performance and identify integration issues.
• Support engineers during prototype development.
• Document integration processes and technical findings.

• Hold or are pursuing a Diploma, Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related disciplines.
• Have basic knowledge of C Programming and Linux fundamentals.
• Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Are passionate about embedded systems, firmware development, and connected technologies.
• Are eager to learn through hands-on projects and industry-oriented training.
• Able to commit to the full training and OJT duration
