Job Summary
We are looking for a Chemist to support laboratory analysis, product quality monitoring, wastewater treatment and environmental management activities at our palm oil refinery.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct routine laboratory analysis of raw materials, process samples, finished products and wastewater.
- Monitor product quality and ensure results meet the required specifications.
- Support production in process monitoring and troubleshooting.
- Monitor and conduct analysis for the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP).
- Assist in scheduled waste management, including handling, storage, labelling, documentation and disposal.
- Maintain accurate laboratory records, test results and reports.
- Ensure laboratory equipment is properly maintained and calibrated.
- Ensure proper chemical handling, storage, safety and laboratory housekeeping.
- Assist with DOE compliance, audits, inspections and environmental reporting.
- Review abnormal test results and coordinate with relevant departments on corrective actions.
- Perform other duties related to laboratory, quality, environmental and plant operations as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Applied Chemistry or related field.
- 2–5 years’ relevant working experience; fresh graduates are welcome.
- Experience in palm oil refinery, oleochemical, edible oil or related industry is an advantage.
- Knowledge of WWTP operation and monitoring, scheduled waste management and DOE requirements is an added advantage.
- Good knowledge of laboratory analysis, chemical handling and safety.
- Good analytical, communication and problem-solving skills.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willing to be based in Lahad Datu, Sabah.
