Responsibilities
Responsibilities:
Report directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and oversee the company’s day-to-day accounting and finance operations.
Lead and supervise the accounting team, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual management accounts in accordance with Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards (MFRS).
Ensure accurate recording of financial transactions, journal entries, reconciliations, and maintenance of the general ledger.
Manage the full financial closing process, including balance sheet reconciliations and month-end/year-end closing activities.
Monitor cash flow, working capital, and liquidity to support daily business operations.
Oversee Accounts Receivable (AR), Accounts Payable (AP), inventory accounting, fixed assets, and cost accounting functions.
Ensure accurate inventory valuation and reconciliation for warehouse and distribution operations.
Work closely with operations, procurement, warehouse, logistics, and sales departments to ensure financial accuracy and cost efficiency.
Prepare annual budgets, financial forecasts, variance analysis, and management reports for the CFO and senior management.
Analyse business performance, profitability, operating expenses, and gross margins, providing actionable financial insights.
Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, including SST, corporate tax, withholding tax, EPF, SOCSO, EIS, and other regulatory obligations.
Liaise with external auditors, tax agents, bankers, company secretaries, and regulatory authorities during audits and compliance matters.
Develop, review, and strengthen accounting policies, SOPs, and internal control procedures to safeguard company assets.
Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, automation, reporting efficiency, and financial controls.
Support business expansion initiatives, system implementations, and finance-related projects.
Ensure compliance with company policies, governance standards, and financial risk management practices.
Mentor and develop the finance team to enhance performance and professional growth.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
Professional qualification such as ACCA, CPA, CIMA, ICAEW, or equivalent is highly preferred.
Minimum 5 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
Prior experience in FMCG, food distribution, wholesale, retail, manufacturing, or trading industries is highly preferred.
Strong knowledge of MFRS, Malaysian taxation, SST, and statutory compliance.
Experience managing full sets of accounts and financial reporting.
Good understanding of inventory accounting, costing, and warehouse-related financial processes.
Proficient in accounting systems and Microsoft Excel.
Strong analytical, leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Able to work independently, meet tight deadlines, and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
