Job Title: Automation TechnicianJob Summary:
An Automation Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting automated systems and equipment. This role focuses on ensuring that automation systems operate efficiently and effectively to support manufacturing and operational processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Installation: Set up and configure automation systems, including PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), SCADA systems, and robotic systems.
- Maintenance: Perform regular maintenance checks on automated equipment to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve issues with automation systems, including electrical, mechanical, and software-related problems.
- Testing: Conduct tests on new automation systems to ensure functionality and compliance with specifications.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, system configurations, and troubleshooting procedures.
- Collaboration: Work closely with engineering teams, production staff, and maintenance personnel to support and improve automation processes.
- Training: Assist in training staff on the operation and maintenance of automated systems.
Qualifications:
- Education: Associate degree in Automation Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related field; certification in automation preferred.
- Experience: 2-4 years of experience in automation, control systems, or a related field.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in programming and troubleshooting PLCs (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens), familiarity with HMI (Human-Machine Interface) systems, and understanding of control circuits.
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of industrial robotics and automation software.
- Familiarity with safety standards and regulations in an industrial setting.
- Basic knowledge of networking and communication protocols (e.g., Ethernet, Modbus).
Work Environment:
- Typically works in a manufacturing or industrial plant environment; may involve shift work or on-call duties as needed.
