About the Role
You'll be the hands-on builder in our newly formed Automation function. Where the Head of Automation sets the direction, you make it real — designing, building, and deploying AI-powered solutions that improve how we serve customers in the oil & gas and semiconductor industries.
This is an early hire in a greenfield team. You'll have real ownership, work across the business, and see your work go directly into production.
What You'll Build & Run
AI & Automation Development
- Build and deploy AI-powered workflows across sales, service, and operations (e.g. quoting automation, service recommendation engines, document intelligence)
- Integrate AI tools and APIs into existing systems (CRM, ERP, customer portals)
- Develop RPA or low-code automations to eliminate repetitive manual processes
- Maintain, monitor, and iterate on deployed solutions
Data & Integration
- Work with structured and unstructured data (equipment specs, service histories, pricing data, contracts)
- Build pipelines and integrations between internal systems and external tools/APIs
- Ensure data quality and reliability for AI model inputs
Collaboration
- Embed with sales and service teams to understand workflows and identify automation opportunities
- Translate business requirements into technical specs — and back again
- Support the Head of Automation in evaluating vendors and new tooling
What We're Looking For
Must-haves
- Hands-on experience building and deploying AI/ML or automation solutions in a production environment
- Familiarity with LLM APIs (OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, or Anthropic) and prompt engineering
- Experience with API integrations, workflow automation tools (e.g. n8n, Zapier, Power Automate), or RPA platforms
- Ability to work independently and navigate ambiguity — this is not a ticket-driven role
- Strong problem-solving instinct; can break down a messy business problem into a buildable solution
Good to have
- Experience with CRM/ERP systems (HubSpot, SAP B1, Kissflow, or similar)
- Familiarity with industrial, distribution, or B2B services contexts
- Exposure to document processing (OCR, LLM-based extraction) or predictive analytics
- Basic understanding of oil & gas or semiconductor supply chain workflows
What Success Looks Like (Year 1)
- First automation live within 90 days — small, impactful, in production
- 2–3 revenue-enabling solutions deployed by end of year
- Clean, maintainable codebases with proper documentation
- Trusted go-to person for "can we automate this?" questions across the business
- Actively contributing ideas — not just executing specs
Why This Role
- Founding team member — your work shapes the function from day one
- Direct exposure to a senior leader with full mandate from the business
- Real problems in a complex industry — not toy datasets or internal dashboards
- Clear growth path as the team scales
