We have an Immediate Opening Virtualization Engineer with our reputed Client.

Client Location Cyberjaya, Malaysia.

Experience: 5+ years

Role Purpose

Support the design, provisioning, migration, validation, and operational handover of enterprise virtualization platforms for the Maybank Application Migration Services programme. Work closely with application, server, storage, backup, network, security, testing, and project teams to deliver secure and disruption-free migrations.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess virtualization platforms, hosts, clusters, virtual machines, dependencies, capacity, and migration readiness.
• Validate and maintain accurate VM, hardware, configuration, and CMDB inventories.
• Gather compute, network, storage, backup, replication, clustering, and security requirements.
• Prepare build documents, migration runbooks, cutover plans, validation checklists, rollback procedures, and handover materials.
• Provision and configure virtualization platforms in accordance with approved architecture, security, and capacity standards.
• Execute VM health checks, configuration backups, shutdown, migration, start-up, and post-migration validation.
• Support VMware and cross-hypervisor migrations using tools such as VMware HCX, Zerto, Azure Migrate, Ansible, and Python.
• Validate host and cluster status, VM availability, network and storage connectivity, backup and replication jobs, monitoring, and application readiness.
• Participate in migration rehearsals, cutovers, command-centre activities, go/no-go reviews, rollback, and hypercare.
• Troubleshoot virtualization, compute, storage, network, replication, clustering, and performance issues.
• Support operational acceptance, disaster recovery, resilience, failover, and application verification testing.
• Apply security hardening and comply with Maybank controls, BNM RMiT, PDPA, PCI-DSS, and ISO 27001 requirements.
• Maintain migration evidence, configuration outputs, test results, execution logs, incident records, and validation reports.
• Deliver knowledge-transfer sessions, runbook walkthroughs, and formal handover to operational support teams.

Experience and Skills

• More than five years of hands-on experience in virtualization engineering, administration, migration, or infrastructure support.
• Strong experience with VMware platforms, hosts, clusters, virtual machines, networking, storage, high availability, and disaster recovery.
• Experience across the migration lifecycle: discovery, assessment, design, provisioning, testing, cutover, stabilization, and handover.
• Working knowledge of Windows/Linux, SAN/NAS storage, backup, replication, DNS, firewalls, load balancing, and monitoring.
• Experience producing technical documentation, runbooks, rollback plans, validation reports, and audit evidence.
• Strong troubleshooting, stakeholder coordination, risk awareness, and production-change execution skills.
• Banking, financial-services, or other regulated-environment experience is preferred.

Preferred Certifications

• VMware Certified Professional or equivalent.
• Microsoft, Linux, Azure, AWS, networking, storage, backup, or security certification.
• ITIL Foundation.
