Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated HV/MV Control and Protection Design Engineer to join our team. This role will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing high voltage/medium voltage (HV/MV) control and protection systems to ensure the safe and reliable operation of electrical power systems as well overseeing and implementing proper QA/QC checks on installation, testing and commissioning of HV/MV equipment.
Responsibilities:
- Design control and protection schemes for HV/MV systems, including substations, transmission lines, and power transformers.
- Design, review, and approve HV/MV/LV power system studies, including but not limited to load flow, short-circuit, protection coordination, and arc flash analyses for the entire electrical system.
- Develop technical specifications and design documents for HV/MV equipment and protection systems.
- Create and review control diagrams, protection relay settings, and circuit breaker coordination.
- Perform system studies, including load flow analysis, short-circuit analysis, and transient stability analysis.
- Use specialized software tools to model and simulate HV/MV control and protection systems.
- Analyze system performance and recommend improvements to enhance reliability and efficiency.
- Oversee the installation and commissioning of HV/MV control and protection equipment.
- Develop and execute test plans to validate the performance of control and protection systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to control and protection systems during and after installation.
- Ensure all designs and implementations comply with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Keep up-to-date with the latest industry developments and best practices in HV control and protection.
- Prepare detailed engineering reports, design documentation, and operational manuals.
- Maintain accurate records of design changes, testing procedures, and system performance.
- Work closely with other engineering teams, ELV/BMS teams, project managers, and clients to ensure successful project delivery.
- Provide technical support and guidance to junior engineers and other team members.
Talent Profile:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. Advanced degrees or professional certifications (e.g., PE, CEng) are a plus.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in construction industry protection system design or 5 years of experience in Mission Critical Facilities HV control and protection system design.
- Experience with relevant software tools (e.g., SKM, ETAP, DIgSILENT) is preferred.
- Proficiency in HV control and protection system design and analysis.
- Strong understanding of power system dynamics, protection relays, and control equipment.
- Experience with high voltage/medium voltage equipment and protection coordination.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadline
