Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Assistant Manager to lead our Import Customer Service team and oversee daily import freight operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise the Import Customer Service team in handling daily import freight operations.
- Coordinate with customers, shipping lines, transporters, warehouse, port/terminal, customs and internal departments.
- Manage import shipments from arrival until delivery/collection.
- Monitor vessel schedules, ETA/ETD, vessel changes, delays and container status.
- Review and coordinate import shipping documentation, including Bill of Lading (B/L), Delivery Order (D/O), arrival notices and other relevant documents.
- Coordinate with customs/customs-related parties on import clearance requirements and shipment matters.
- Monitor container release, port/terminal status and delivery arrangements.
- Coordinate with transport and warehouse teams to ensure timely delivery and collection.
- Monitor shipment-related charges such as storage, demurrage/detention and other operational charges where applicable.
- Ensure accurate and timely updates of shipment and job information in the Asolute system.
- Monitor team workload, job status and customer requirements.
- Handle customer enquiries, complaints and operational escalations.
- Review import jobs and documentation for accuracy and completeness.
- Guide, train and supervise Customer Service Executives/Assistants.
- Monitor team performance and ensure customer service standards are maintained.
- Prepare operational reports and provide updates to management.
- Identify and implement improvements to import customer service and freight operations.
Requirements
- Diploma/Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business Administration or related field.
- Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in import freight/shipping/logistics customer service.
- Supervisory or team-leading experience is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of import freight operations, shipping documentation, vessel schedules, customs and port/terminal operations.
- Experience dealing with shipping lines, customs, transporters, warehouse and port/terminal.
- Good understanding of container movement, delivery arrangements and import shipment processes.
- Experience using Asolute system or other freight/logistics systems is highly preferred.
- Strong leadership, communication and problem-solving skills.
- Able to manage a team and multiple shipments simultaneously.
- Good command of English and Bahasa Malaysia. Mandarin is an advantage.
- Proactive, organised and able to work under pressure.
- Strong customer service and coordination skills.
Pay: RM6,000.00 - RM7,000.00 per month
